Apple devices are at their best when the hardware, software, services, and accessories work together. They are also increasingly complex. A seemingly simple buying decision can involve memory, storage, ports, displays, subscriptions, privacy settings, device management, and a shelf full of accessories that all promise to make things easier.
We Are MacWise exists to make those decisions clearer.
Independent insight, grounded in real experience
We Are MacWise is an independent editorial destination created by Richard Russell, founder of MacWorks 360. It draws on more than 30 years of Apple-focused IT experience supporting businesses, professionals, creative teams, and people who rely on Apple technology every day.
The aim is not to repeat every announcement or celebrate every new feature. It is to explain what matters, show the tradeoffs, and help you decide what deserves your time and money.
What you can expect
Coverage will focus on seven connected areas:
- Apple News & Analysis: Important announcements with practical context
- Mac: Hardware, macOS, setup, troubleshooting, and professional workflows
- iPhone & iPad: Useful features, configuration advice, and better ways to work across devices
- Apps & Workflows: Software, automation, cloud services, and tools for meaningful work
- Accessories & Gear: Displays, docks, storage, audio, charging, bags, and the products around your devices
- Security & Services: Privacy, backups, account protection, subscriptions, device management, and dependable support
- Buying Guides: Clear comparisons that help you buy, upgrade, wait, or choose an alternative
Recommendations that explain the reasoning
A useful recommendation should answer three questions: Who is it for? Where does it fall short? Is it worth the money?
That means separating meaningful differences from marketing language. A more expensive configuration is not automatically the better choice. A third-party app is not automatically better than an Apple feature. And a product that works beautifully for a creative professional may be unnecessary for someone with a simpler workflow.
When hands-on testing has not occurred, we will not suggest that it has. Verified facts, analysis, and opinion should remain clearly distinguishable.
Built for professionals, useful to everyone
Our core audience includes Apple professionals, consultants, creative teams, small-business owners, IT decision-makers, and experienced users. But expertise should make an explanation clearer, not harder to follow. Newer Apple users should find approachable guidance; experienced readers should find enough detail to make confident decisions.
